This Saturday starting at Noon EST Scott Birmingham presents a Classical ABC Weekend! Each letter of the alphabet will be represented by a famous classical composer! Scott starts with the letter A and the music of Addinsell. Next comes the letter B and the music of Bach and Beethoven, next Chopin, Debussy, Elgar and more! Join us this Saturday for a romp through the alphabet! Later Saturday evening at 8PM you can hear our special called Saturday Night at the Opera as we present Strauss's opera Genoveva! Genoveva (Op. 81) is an opera in four acts by Robert Schumann. It was the only opera Schumann ever wrote, it received its first performance on 25 June 1850 at the Stadttheater in Leipzig, with the composer conducting. It received only three performances during the premiere, and the negative criticism it received in the press played a decisive role in Schumann's decision to not write a second opera. But fans have rediscovered it and love it today. The North American premiere, in a concert performance at Emmanuel Church in Boston on April 2, 2005, ended with a standing ovation. We will present this opera commercial free!
